Gili Trawangan is famous for its beautiful coral reefs that makes this destination always crowded year-around. The island is located in the northwest of Lombok. Gili Trawangan is also the biggest Gili compared to other popular Gilis which are the Meno and Air.
Gili Trawangan has various facilities for tourists such are hotels, bars, restaurants as well as recreation areas. Trawangan has more ‘party‘ compared to Gili Meno and Gili Air, due to many bars or restaurants are open until midnight.
The most popular activities here are scuba diving (equipped with PADI certification), snorkeling (on the northeast coast), kayaking and surfing as well. In Gili Trawangan, the only transportation available are bicycle and “cidomo”, which is a kind of horse-drawn carriage or also known as “dokar” in the Central Java. In Trawangan you can also enjoy beach sunset and sunrise at the same beach.
How to go to Gili Trawangan from Bali
You can use a fast boat from Padangbai Port, Amed Port or Serangan Port and arrive immediately at Gili Trawangan in 2-3 hours. For the price is vary and quite expensive, around IDR500,000 or could be more for one way. However, there is a cheaper option by using a ferry from Padangbai Port to Lembar Port on Lombok Island.

From Lembar Port then you can continue your journey on the road to Bangsal Port and from there you can directly reach the Three Gilis. It will take several hours longer because most of your time will be run out when sailing from Padangbai to Lembar (5-6 hours).
How to go to Gili Trawangan from Lombok
To get to Lombok Island, you can use an airplane and arrive at Lombok International Airport (BIL) in Praya, Central Lombok. Then from the airport, continue the trip to Bangsal Port or Teluk Nara (Nara Gulf). The price of a taxi or rent a car from airport to Bangsal Port is around IDR250.000 – IDR350.000 or could be more.

Or you can also use the Damri Bus at the airport to Senggigi, then continue your trip by taxi to Bangsal Port or Teluk Nara where some of the fast boats parking there. When traveling from the airport to Teluk Nara about 2 hours. Usually if heading to Telung Nara, the tourists are more pleased because from the parking spot to the fast boats is quite close so they don’t have to walk to far. However, if you heading to Bangsal Port from the airport, you have to walk several minutes to the fast boats area which is quite far from the parking area.
How to go to Gili Trawangan from Teluk Nara

The choice is only to rent a private fast boat or public fast boat with variety prices, depend on how quick the boats filled with passengers or based on schedule. But the cheapest way to Gilis from Teluk Nara is using public fast boat and usually the boat will not move until it filled up with more than 15 people. So you have to be patience waiting other passengers.

The cheapest way to explore Gili Trawangan is by using a public fast boat that departs from Bangsal Port from 08.00-5.00 (but it is rarely the boat depart above 4 PM). The official price is around IDR15.000. Sometimes the boats depart when there are enough people only. Usually consist of 15 passengers.

There is an Island Hopping boat that runs from each Island twice a day in the morning and in the afternoon, every day (weather permitting) between the Islands. There is a set schedule for the Island hopping boat. Please note that tickets for this boat should be purchased at the main harbor ticket office and they can only be purchased on the day that you are traveling. You can not book these tickets in advance.
