Rinjani Trekking

Rinjani is the highest mountain in Lombok and, outside Irian Jaya, about the highest in Indonesia. At 3726 meters, it soars above the island and dominates the landscape, but by mid-morning on most days, the summit is shrouded in cloud. The mountain is actually an active volcano – its last eruption was in 1901. A huge crater contains its large, green, crescent-shaped lake, Segara Anak, which is about six km across at its widest point. A series of natural hot springs on the northeastern side of the calderas testify to the fact that Rinjani is still geologically active.
